Juvenile: Relating to young people.
I chose a picture of children because they are young and considered juveniles.
Delinquent: typically a young person or that person's behavior showing or characterized by a tendency to commit crime, particularly minor crime.
I chose a picture of two black kids because these past couple of years most black children are considered dangerous or bad.
Prosecute: institute legal proceedings against (a person or organization)
I chose a picture of a No Trespassing sign because it’s warning others that if they go on to a certain part of land that doesn’t belong to them they will get prosecuted.
Offender: A person who commits an illegal act.
I chose a picture of a guy wearing a mask, holding a bag of money, and is wearing what looks like a prison jumpsuit.
Conviction: A formal declaration that someone is guilty of a criminal offense, made by the verdict of a jury or the decision of a judge in a court of law.
I chose a picture of a gavel because juries and judges slap the gavel every time they convict somebody of a crime offense.
Incarceration: The state of being confined in prison; imprisonment.
I chose a picture of a pair of hands holding what could be jail cell bars.
Overrepresentation: Represented in excessive or disproportionately large numbers or amounts.
I chose a picture of a graph showing that almost 2 times of the U.S. males population is incarcerated.
Mandatory: Required by law or rules.
I chose a picture of a stop sign because it is mandatory by law that you stop at a stop sign.
Deterrent: a thing that discourages or is intended to discourage someone from doing something.
I chose a picture of a sign saying “Shark beach closed” because when people see this they automatically know not to swim unless they want to die.
Reform: make changes in (something, typically a social, political, or economic institution or practice) in order to improve it.
I chose a picture of some text saying tax reform which is changing the way taxes are collected.
Disparity: A great difference.
I chose a picture of a some people on a teeter totter and on one side there’s a lot people, and on the other side there’s only one guy but he is rich and they seem poor so he is valued more which is why he is weighing more than all those people because he is more important.
Sentence: The punishment assigned to a defendant found guilty by a court, or fixed by law for a particular offense.
I chose a picture of a judge and what seems to be a criminal and he is slapping the gavel down giving him a sentence of sort like they usually do.
