The Nile starts in East Africa,curves through the desert, up past the pyramids, into the delta! And dumps into the Mediterranean Sea!!!

SIGNIFICANCE

Herodotus called the ancient Egyptian civilization the Gift of the Nile.The Nile is one of the two longest rivers in the world. The Nile also gives life to all things around it.

MONTHS

The Nile floods between May and September. The ancient Egyptian calendar has twelve months of thirty days. They had five extra days.

HELPFUL

Due to the Nile flooding it left silt which was good to grow crops in. After the Nile flooded it gave them enough water to farm for 4 months, and gave them drinking water.

HARMFUL

The Nile was unpredictable so there could be too much water flooding or not enough to grow crops. When that happened the Egyptians used there surplus.
