CATTLE

  • Shorthorn
  • White, roan, and red
  • "The breed was developed as dual-purpose, suitable for both dairy and beef production; however, certain blood lines within the breed always emphasised one quality or the other."
  • The Shorthorn originated in the North East of England in the late 18th century. The breed developed from Teeswater and Durham cattle found originally in the North East of England.

PIGS

  • "Large black" or "devon"
  • Black
  • the breed was selected for large size and efficiency of production on pasture and other forages.
  • Male: 710 – 790 lbs (Adult), Female: 510 lbs

SHEEP

  • Merino
  • Black and white wool
  • They are used for their wool to make clothing
  • the Saxon Merino is without peer in the quality of wool produced, a sheep producing 14 microns would cut 3 kilos and a sheep producing 17.5 microns up to 6 kilos.

HORSE

  • Arabian
  • Bay, black, chestnut, or gray. Occasional dominant white, sabino, or rabicano patterns.
  • They were used for traveling fast
  • The Arabian or Arab horse is a breed of horse that originated on the Arabian Peninsula. With a distinctive head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most easily recognizable horse breeds in the world.

CHICKEN

  • Barred rock
  • Black Frizzle, Blue, Partridge, Barred, Buff, Columbian, Silver Penciled, Black, White
  • Used for their meat and eggs
  • "The Plymouth Rock is an American breed of domestic chicken. It was first seen in Massachusetts in the nineteenth century."
