What Are Inhalants?
Any substance that, when inhaled through the nose and/or mouth causes a psychoactive effect in the user

Sudden sniffing death syndrome
Children can die the first time, or any time, they try an inhalant. The inhalant causes the heart to beat rapidly or erratically, resulting in cardiac arrest.

INTERESTING FACTS
Laughing gas was used as one of the first inhalants in the 1700s
10.1% of 8th graders have abused inhalants at least once in the past year

EXAMPLES OF INHALANTS
There are 4 types: solvents, anesthetics, aerosols, and nitrites
Paint, adhesives, nail polish, type-writer correction fluid, dry-cleaning, gasoline, lighter fluid, nail polish remover, paint remover and thinner
