• 4 look outs on duty at all time

• Britain had trouble feeding its army becase the threat was so grave
• Sunk more than 3,000 ships by the end of the war
• They were sinking Bitish ships faster than they were replacing them

IMPACT ON AMERICANS

• Started sinking U.S ships off of the Gulf and Atlantic
• So many tankers were sunk gas was not getting to America
• Gas rationing was instituted
