How Stalin Governed
Stalin used tactics such as propaganda and fear. The tactics he used were the KGB and killing workers if they didn't work enough. These tactics were created to make the people have reason to follow him. Stalin made treaties with other countries so Russia could be protected while they industrialized. His horrible actions were done to industrialize Russia and to be able to compete with other country super powers in the world.
How Russia dealt with industrialization of other countries?
Russia's citizens were payed little wages for working long hours. And had to sacrifice the little they had for the industrialization of Russia. Workers would be killed if their work wouldn't suffice. These sacrifices were made for the contribution of the industrialization.
Totalitarian methods
Stalin created the five year plans. They were meant to industrialize Russia and allow them to compete with the U.S.A and other European countries. The first five year plan was from 1928 to 1933. It was created to industrialize Russia by helping it grow agriculturally and economically. Although it wasn't prosperous it set Stalins plan in stone. They then followed with the second and third plan which only lasted three years.
Why did Stalin do this?
After the fall of Czar Nicholas, Russia was in poverty. Russians had no jobs, no money, and no power. However, when Stalin saw this, he knew he couldn't be a normal. He knew that the country of Russia would be taken over and would fall if the terrible conditions still existed. So Stalin ruled with an iron fist in order to industrialize Russia so they would not only be protected from other counties like USA and Germany, but they would not fall as a government themselves. Stalin had his people work like slaves in order to make their country a global superpower in less than fifteen years. The terrible things Stalin did were only done for the sake of the country of Russia and its future.
