Baths Romans took baths every day and only costed a quarter to get in. Roman architects designed the baths with more glory than purpose. Romans would spend hours a day in the baths.
Colosseum Romans enjoyed entertainment, so they had theaters and drama acts. But they mostly enjoyed going to the colosseum to watch gladiator fights or chariot races.
Decoration Romans decorated almost every building they made. They put carvings, statues, and paintings by or on their houses. The upper class had detailed decorations on columns while the lower class had no decoration.
Fights Rome had a lot of fighting in its history whether it's gladiators or soldiers. Gladiators are slaves that were forced to fight to the death. And soldiers fought whatever was in their way.
Gauls The Gauls ,today France, were enemies with Rome for some time. The Gauls had a third of Rome and the Romans had the rest. Eventually the Romans conquered Gaul and soon became allies.
Hannibal Hannibal was the son of Hamilcar ,a great Carthaginian general, that was known for lead his army through the Alps and into Rome. There were many casualties but it was the only way to surprise Rome.
Iulius Iulius was the son of Aeneas ,from the book The Aenead, crashed their boats into the shores of Carthage. Cupid took Iulius to the goddess Venus.
Julius Caesar Julius Caesar completely put Rome back to an orderly place. The senate didn't like this because he had more power. The senate killed him thinking it would save Rome.
Latins The Latins were the first people to live in Italy. Then the Romans settled there and drove the Latins farther to the borders. The Etruscans and Rome became friends, they drove the Latins out for good.
Mediterranean Sea Rome conquered all of the Mediterranean Sea and began to call it "our sea". This opened up many trade routes, transportation, and food.
North Africa Carthage and Egypt were in North Africa and had many territories on the Mediterranean. Rome conquered both of them and took their territory and many trade routes.
Octavian Caesar Octavian Caesar was Julius Caesar's great nephew that made Rome become an empire. Octavian was later named Augustus and was the first emperor and was the best of all.
Plebeians Before Rome was as great as it was in its 4 stages of expansion, plebeians worked on everything and had no rights. They started a rebellion against the patricians for more rights.
Under World In Rome, it was thought after someone died they go to the Under World bad or good. You could only enter if you body was buried and if you weren't, you couldn't answer.
