Gallipoli is one of the most known battles the ANZAC's fought in, but it was also the most humiliating due to the amount of losses we had received to the fighting (8,709,044,000 over all, 664 officers and 17,260 soldiers from Australia), disease (665), wounds (2,012) or just becoming known as 'missing' (21,000). The battle was about the Allied Powers wanting control over the sea route from Europe to Russia. It failed, with the Turkish winning the battle after about a 10 months of fighting, with the battle starting on the 25th of April 1915 and ending January 9th 1916.
