TRIAL 1

PERSON WALKING

PROCEDURE

  • I measured out 5 meters in my hallway.
  • I marked down a starting line and a finish line.
  • I had my brother stand at the starting line. I told him to go and I started the timer.
  • I repeated these steps two more times and recorded my results.

RESULTS

  • I recorded his first time as 5.17 seconds, and his speed was .96 m/s
  • His second time was 4.25 seconds, and his speed was 1.17 m/s
  • His third time was 3.96 seconds, and his speed was 1.26 m/s
  • His average speed was 1.12m/s

TRIAL 2

TOY CAR

PROCEDURE

  • I measured out 5 meters in my hallway.
  • I marked down a starting line and a finish line.
  • I had my brother turn on the car. I told him to go and he started the car. I started the timer.
  • I repeated the steps twice more and recorded my results.

TRIAL 3

CLOCK HAND

PROCEDURE

  • I used the clock in my house, and I measured the second hand
  • I then found the circumference of the clock.
  • I converted inches to meters and found the speed

RESULTS

  • The toy cars first time was 4.2 seconds and its speed was 1.19 m/s
  • They toy cars second time was 4.39 seconds, and its speed was 1.13 m/s
  • The third time was 4.13 seconds and its speed was 1.21 seconds.
  • The average speed was 1.17 m/s

RESULTS

  • The speed of the clock hand was .12 m/s
