Defining the socio-ecological perspective

''People can take part in the health promotion process effectively only when they have a clear view of the social and environmental factors that affect health and well-being. Through learning experiences that reflect the socio-ecological perspective, students can seek to remove barriers to healthy choices. They can help to create the conditions that promote their own well-being and that of other people and society as a whole. Through this perspective, students will also come to a better appreciation of how and why individuals differ. ''

Health and Physical Education in the New Zealand Curriculum, page 33

The socio-ecological perspective is an essential part of this curriculum. Using the socio-ecological perspective enables students to become aware of the interdependence and interrelationships that exist between themselves, others, and society. They are then able to understand how broader physical, social, political, economic, ethical, and cultural contexts and histories influence the ways in which they (and other people) make meaning out of their observations and experiences.

Find the series of Youth2000 studies (3) conducted by the Adolescent Health Research Group at the University of Auckland. Provide an outline of what these studies are by covering the following questions:
1. What years were the studies conducted?
2. Consider the methodology and discuss if the studies are reliable eg sample size, questions asked, any issues to be aware of though?
3. What were some of the key findings that jumped out at you and may be relevant to the assessment

Can you come up with some?
