  • The battle was the bloodiest one day battle of the civil war

BATTLE OF SHILOH

  • Troops gained greater controls over Mississippi River
  • Each side lost a gained ground

THE SIEGE AT VICKSBURG

  • The Mississippi was under control
  • Six week blockade that starved the city

AFRICAN AMERICANS IN WAR

  • Some of them were contrabands
  • Within a year several African Americans joined
  • They received less pay then white soldiers
  • They also face greater danger then the white soldiers
