To Invasive Species!

What is it?!

  • Invasive Species invade areas that they aren't native to.
  • These invading species are usually apex predators!
  • Increase in number very rapidly and consume large quantities of food.

Fishzilla(Snake head Fish):
The snakehead fish is the most ugliest fish ever. It eats anything in its path and its native place was Asia until it got introduced to the waters of Maryland which made the state pass strict laws about controlling the dangerous species from totally devastating the ecosystem.

~Invasive species are often spread by humans, although mostly unintentional.

~Some of these methods include the movement of ships, wood products, pets, and plants.
~These cause the spread of invasive species because the species attach or live in the products and moving the products also moves the species.

Invasive species may prey on local species.

They pose a competitive threat to native species and may out-compete them.

Invasive species may carry diseases.

They may prevent species from reproducing through means of killing their offspring

~Government agencies have passed few laws to help regulate the invasive species: Executive Order 13112 which made an agency to deal with invasive species.
~Brown Tree Snake Control Act 2004 which aimed to control the issue of Brown Snakes in Guam.
~ Alien Specialist Prevention and Enforcement Act of 1992 which makes it illegal to ship plants and animals covered in Lacey!

~The species are capable of destroying habitats causing the displacement of native species
~They can degrade a native population till the point of extinction in that particular habitat
~They destabilize the ecosystem and cause chaos in the area
~ The species are nearly unstoppable once introduced and can be a huge threat to animals and plants!

~ They invade the space of the native species in a habitat causing the natives to move out their habitat which creates instability in that area!
~ Kills the native species and then the other species, which depended on that native species die too.
~As the invasive species began to grow, they take over the beneficiaries of that habitat to themselves which is bad for the other species trying to survive

~ Have knowledge in different invasive species so that when spotted, you can report it to an official
~ Don't plant plants that are not of that region for they can pose a threat
~ If you traveled in wooded area or similar places, make sure you thoroughly clean all you equipment and clothing!
