EL YUNQUE NATIONAL FOREST
- It is the rainiest of all national forests.
- There are over 240 species of plants and trees here.
- The only native mammals are bats.
ARECIBO OBSERVATORY
- It is the site of the world’s largest single-unit radio telescope.
- It is famous for being the site of Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence message directed towards space.
- The reflective dish of the telescope is 1,000 feet in diameter.
PASEO TABLADO LA GUANCHA
- It is a boardwalk built along the coast of the Caribbean Sea.
- It is famous for its food.
- The cost to build was 2.6 million dollars, that’s $2,600,000!

CORDILLERA CENTRAL
- It is the highest peak in Puerto Rico.
- It is Primarily made up of limestone.
- The eastern mountains have more granite outcrops than the western ones.
PUERTO RICO TRENCH
- It is 70 miles directly North of Puerto Rico.
- At 27,500ft deep, it is the largest and deepest trench in the Atlantic.
- It causes earthquakes in the region.
EL YUNQUE
- The name means “Forest of Clouds”.
- On average, it gets about 240in. of rain each year.
- Its highest elevation is 3,494ft.
CULEBRA ARCHIPELAGO
- It contains the main island of Culebra and 28 uninhabited islets.
- It has world famous beaches on the coast.
- It’s entire topography consists of mountains.
COASTAL PLAINS
- They are found along the northern and southern edges of Puerto Rico.
- They are the most densely populated areas in Puerto Rico.
- They were formed from the erosion of the interior mountains.
