PSYCHOLOGY AND VACCINES

  • Parents seem to accuse medical experts because they want to be right.

False info on vaccines

  • Wakefield’s bogus study in 1998 was printed in The Lancet medical journal.
Andrew Wakefield is a former doctor who lost his license when he was found guilty of fraud and serious professional misconduct. Wakefield used twelve children at his son’s fifth birthday party in his research without approval or authorization while using invasive tests. Also, a twelve person study should not have been mentioned in a medical journal because studys usually include thousands of participants in order to receive accurate results. In the end, Wakefield’s study was embarrassingly discredited. Wakefield was paid by a legal firm which wanted to take action against manufacturers of the MMR vaccine. They needed him to give proof that the drug was dangerous.

How parents feel

  • Many anti-vax parents are scared of vaccines. I found that vaccine-hesitant parents are not stupid or anti-science. Often, they aren’t even opposed to vaccines; they are just scared.

MEASLES AND MUMPs

  • Measles and mumps are two painful diseases that many get when they are not vaccinated.

MMR VACCINE SAFETY

  • The MMR vaccine is much safer than getting measles, mumps, or rubella.

MMR VACCINE AND AUTISM

  • Some parents also think that the MMR vaccine causes autism.

POLIO AND ITS TRIALS

  • Polio is a horrid sickness that can be transferred to someone who is not vaccinated. The polio vaccine trials of 1954, sponsored by the National Foundation of Infantile Paralysis, are among the largest and most publicized clinical trials ever undertaken.

THE RISK KIDS HAVE

  • Anti-vax parents do not recognize the risk they are putting other children in.

PRO-VACCINE PARENTS THOUGHTS

  • Parents are mortified that their infant may receive a life-threatening disease because they are too young to receive vaccines.

CONCLUSION

  • Vaccination is a very complex and involved topic. It is highly recommended that you do your own research. I have learned some of the dangers of not being vaccinated and that the benefits outweigh the harm. It is better for you, your family, for society, and for the world. So please, keep your family and friends vaccinated, and together we can save lives.
