The phrase "early Civilization'' usually conjures up images of Egypt and Mesopotamia, and there pyramids mummies, and golden tombs. But in the 1920's a huge discovery in south Asia proved that Egypt and Mesopotamia were not the only early civilization in the vast Indus valley plains. Was located in what is now today Pakistan. Layers of land and mounds of dirt . Archealogist discovered the remains of 4,600 year old city.A thriving urban Civilization had existed at the same time as Egyptians and Mesopotamia states in area twice each of there sizes

They were located

Located

  • The Indus river begins high in the Himalayan mountain. The tallest mountain range in the world. And flows nearly 3,000 kilometers to the Arabin sea. As the river moves down stream it curves out the valley. This is where the Indus people settled.

The Indus people

There were more than 1,400 town and cities in the Indus valley. The biggest were Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro Around 80,000 people lived in cities.
