THE CHURCH

• Teaches the same doctrines founded by Jesus Christ.
• She has a life of the Holy Spirit.
• And is one in her faith, sacraments, and pastors.

HOLY

• Jesus is her founder and he is the source of all holiness.
• The sanctification and salvation of all members of the Church make her holy.
• She has the tools to make members of the church holy.
• The sacraments lead to holiness.

• “By her relationship with Christ, the Church is a kind of sacrament or sign of intimate union with God, and of the unity of all mankind” (LG, 1). The Church, the union of the members, of the Church, with each other in Christ “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me”

• We believe that there are 4 signs, or marks that the Church can be recognized by.
• They are found in the Niceness Creed:" I believe in one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church."

CATHOLIC

• Third mark of the Church • universal • She poses the fullness of Christ, truth, revelation, is for all mean everywhere and all the time • Not limited to one race or nation • The Church continues to manifest this mark of universality

APOSTOLIC

• connected with the Apostles • final mark of the Church • means that the Church originated with the Apostles • there are the foundation of his Church. • Apostolicity: the fact that the Church is still ruled by the legitimate successors to Peter and the Apostles, mainly, the Pope and the bishops. • She professes the same doctrine taught by the Apostles. • The Church is founded upon the teachings of our Alford handed down by the Apostles

WHAT DID JESUS ENTRUST TO PETER AND THE APOSTLES?

• Jesus entrusted the apostles with the means to carry out his work, and the task to administer the sacraments.

WHAT DID JESUS GIVE THE CHURCH IN ORDER TO CONTINUE HIS WoRK?

• In order to continue his work Jesus Christ gave the church the power to govern and teach.

WHAT POWER DID THE APOSTLES RECEIVE AT THE LAST SUPPER?

• At the Last Supper the apostles received the power to celebrate the Eucharist.

WHAT POWER DID THE APOSTLES RECEIVE AFTER THE RESURRECTION?

• After the resurrection the apostles received the power to forgive sins.

WHAT WERE THEY COMMANDED TO DO ON THE DAY OF THE ASCENSION?

• They were commanded to baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
