PRESENTATION OUTLINE
SCENT OF A WOMAN FILM ANALYSIS
Charlie Simms is the main character. He is a college student from Oregon attending a private school on a scholarship. He is conflicted by having to cover for his friends after they mess up the dean's car.
Frank Slade is the supporting character. He is a retired Army colonel who lost his sight. He is very rough in his exterior and has a plan to do everything he wanted during Thanksgiving weekend.
Charlie by the end becomes stronger as a person thanks to Colonel Slade. He changes because Slate has had a large influence on him during their weekend in New York.
Slade has gained a new outlook on life by the end. This was thanks to his new friendship with Charlie, as he helped him experience new things , and even stopping him from blowing his brains out. Now he finds joy in living life.
During the film, I could see why Slade would want to end his life, since he really didn't seem to have much going for him. But I wouldn't necessarily say that suicide is the best option. I relate more to Charlie because he has a lot to worry about regarding his future.
A moral of the film is that you should stand your ground no matter what happens. This is shown by the fact that Charlie doesn't let he dean's bribe change what he says in the end.
