SCIENCE BACKGROUND

The definitions of acid, base and neutral is:
Acid- a substance that has a ph range as 0-7
Base- a substance that has a ph range as 7-14
Neutral- a substance that has a ph level as 7

Ways scientists use ph is to determine whether something is a acid, base or neutral. They also use ph to see if water and soil is clean or not.

Ph levels of rain water, streams/lakes and soil are:
Rain water- 5-6
Streams/lakes- 5-7
Soil- 6-7.5

IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM

A way air pollution can change the ph of something is, when raindrops are falling from the sky, something from the pollution can get inside the raindrop and when it hits the surface, it changes the ph of whatever it lands on.

Consequences that environments can face is having their lakes, streams and wetlands toxic witch causes the living creatures to die. Another consequence is that it can sicken the trees and plants.
Ph change can do many harmful things to an environment.

SOLUTIONS

Solutions that can help slow down air pollution is:

  • Ride the bus more often.
  • Buy cars that doesnt pollute the air as much.
  • Turn off electrical equipment when your not using it.

Start helping to save your community and even your country.
