WHY DID WE CREATE IT?

  • The people couldn't express their concerns to the king
  • The press could not print articles that did not favor the king
  • The press only had information that put Great Britain in a good light
  • This amendment was made during colonial times

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

  • The government does not have the control over the people
  • We can get correct information without government interfering
  • People who don't have a populare belief still has the right to express them
  • That means we have the opportunity to change our government as we see fit

HOW DID THIS HELP?

  • Have diversity of culture
  • Have free thinking individuals
  • Diversity in religion
  • More accepting society
  • Government represents the will of the people
