• For Hultzilopochtli, god of sun and war

• Many rituals were held there including human sacrifice

Similarities and Differences
The Pyramids of Giza was built for the Royal Family, Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. But along with the Khufu's Pyramid, the Great Sphinx was built during his reign. The Great Sphinx was built for the Cult of the Dead King and the sun god. The Aztec built the Templo Mayor for their sun god and war along with the god of rain and fertility. However even though Templo Mayor and the Great Sphinx was made for their sun god, Templo Mayor was also a building that held rituals while the Great Sphinx was a statue.
