PRESENTATION OUTLINE

PEER PRESSURE AND BULLYING

BY ARIB

Peer Pressure is when someone around your own age pressures/influences you to do something.

Bullying is aggressive and unwanted behaviour among school aged children that involves a power imbalance. It is repeated, or can be repeated, over time.

EXAMPLES OF NEGATIVE PEER PRESSURE

  • You could be asked to smoke becouse it is cool
  • You could be asked to steal something to prove that you're cool

EXAMPLES OF POSITIVE PEER PRESSURE

  • Others can convince you not to break a rule
  • They can convince you to do well academically

HOW TO ACT CONFIDENT

  • Stand up straight; this makes this person think you are not afraid
  • Look the person right in the eye; this makes the bully afraid of you

HOW TO FIND HELP

  • Surround yourself with friends beforehand so you have someone to help
  • Go to a teacher and tell him/her about it; they can help and stop the bully
  • There are many bullying helplines for kids you can try; They can give good advice

WAYS TO SAY NO WHEN BEING PEER PRESSURED

  • Suggest something else to do to get their mind off bad things
  • Change the subject. This makes them forget about what they were trying to do
  • Ignore the other person. They won't bully you if you don't look like you care

IF OTHERS ARE GETTING BULLIED

  • Stick up for the victim and tell the bully to stop
  • Go away from the bully and take the victim with you
  • Tell an adult

SOME PEOPLE YOU CAN GO TO AT AISR

  • you can go to the secretary. She can tell the principal about it
  • you can tell the principal. he can have the bully go to the office
  • You can talk to any teacher. They can tell the bully to stop
