WHO WAS ARISTARCHUS?

  • Aristarchus was a famous philosopher & mathematician
  • Aristarchus was born in 310 BC & died in 230 BC
  • Aristarchus presented the first known model that placed the sun in the center of the universe
  • Aristarchus also believed that the earth revolved around the sun in the center of the universe.

WHO WAS ARISTARCHUS CONT.

  • Aristarchus also believed thats stars were other bodies of the sun
  • His philosophical ideas came from inspiration of Aristotle & Ptolemy

WHO WAS PTOLEMY?

  • Ptolemy was a famous Greco-Egyptian mathematician & astronomer
  • Ptolemy was born in 90 AD & died in 168 AD
  • Ptolemy helped creat arithmetical techniques for astronautical phenomenons
  • He also helped collect data to help find the position of the sun, the planets, stars, and more.

WHO WAS COPERNICUS?

  • Copernicus was a famous mathematician and astronomer
  • He was born in 1473 & died in 1543
  • Copernicus made a discovery that the sun is in the center of the earth
  • Copernicus, unlike other astronomers, did not place the earth at the center of the universe.
  • Just before his death in 1543, he triggered the Copernicus Revolution

WHO WAS KEPLER?

  • Kepler was a famous mathematician & astronomer
  • Kepler was born in 1571 & later died in 1630
  • Kepler was best known for his study in the theory of universal gravitation
  • Kepler also created the law, Laws of Planetary Motion.
  • The law of planetary motion explains the three scientific laws of the motion

WHO WAS GALILEO GALILEI?

  • Galileo was a Italian physicist, mathematician, and astronomer.
  • Galileo was born in 1564 & later died in 1642
  • He played a major role in the scientific revolution.
  • Galileo helped improve the telescope & he helped support Copernicus' theory.
  • He also helped discover the phases of Venus & the four largest satellites of Jupiter

GEOCENTRIC SOLAR SYSYEM THEORY

  • The geometric solar system theory states that the earth is in the center of our universe. Which means all other planets and bodies orbit around the earth.

HELIOCENTRIC SOLAR SYSTEM THEROY

  • Heliocentricism is the theory that the sun in in the center of our universe, and that all other bodies and planets revolve and are in orbit with/around the sun
