Katniss and Peta have to fight against twenty two other tributes chosen from the other districts. Haymich their mentor helped them through training and prepair them for the games. When the games began Katniss and Peta split up and decide to defend for themselves. After eight hours twelve tributes had already died.

The theme of this book is never give up. We chose this theme because we believe that all of the characters represent this through out the book. One example is Katniss and the other tributes never give up in the games. Although they are forced to fight to the death, they try and battle for as long as they can.

SYMBOLS
This is the pin that Katniss wears throughout the games. The symbol of the mocking Jay pin represents determination. This is represented throughout the book because all of the characters never give up. Katniss and the other characters are forced into the games and by never giving up it can help them through hard times.
