What is a landform?

  • Landforms are physical features made from nature.
  • It is made from rock and dirt. Landforms can be big or small.
  • Landforms were made by glaciers.
  • Pushing rock and dirt into mountains and carving out lakes.

Islands

  • An island is a form of land surrounded by water.
  • An island can be in an ocean, lake, river, or a pond.
  • Hawaii, one of the states is an island.

Mountains

  • Mountains are pieces of land that are taller than the surrounding land.
  • Mountains are usually larger than hills.
  • We have many mountain ranges in the United States
  • The Appalachian Mountain Range.
  • Smoky Mountains.

DesertS

  • A desert is a flat plain area that receives little or no rainfall.
  • Deserts can be extremely hot or extremely cold.
  • Deserts cover one/fifth of Earth’s surface.
  • One example of a desert is:
  • Sahara Desert

LakeS

  •  A lake is a body of water surrounded by land.
  • Lakes are usally big. Small lakes are called ponds.
  • Lake Tahoe, and Crater Lake are some examples of lakes.

Rivers

  • Rivers are natural flow of water that travels on the ground.
  • Some rivers are long and so wide you can't see the other side.
  • The Ohio River and the Nile River are examples of rivers.

Oceans

  • Oceans are bodies of water that cover most of Earth.
  • Oceans have salt water instead of fresh water.
  • The Pacific Ocean, and the Atlantic Ocean are two oceans on Earth.
