AFFECTED AREAS

  • The wood stork is affected in the southeast wetlands
  • There is not enough fresh water for them to drink

HABITAT

  • Primarily feed in fresh and brackish wetlands
  • nest in cypress or other wooded swamps

THREATS

  • Loss of feeding habitats
  • Prolonged drought
  • Human disturbance of rookeries
  • Raccoons taking their nesting

PROTECTION

  • no human intrusion into feeding sites when storks are present
  • Checking the water levels
