What women did during the Great Depression:
Women working in labor intensive jobs
Women were able able to serve the U.S navy
Women would start working in factories

DURING THE 1930S WHAT WOMEN MOSTLY DID

  • They cooked and cleaned
  • And took care of their children

If women were divorced or single with a family at this time would work on the street trying to sell stuff

Women did take jobs and money from men which made them angry

The gained employment for women in 1939 roughly equaled the national unemployment total

So they decided to fire women and give the jobs to men

Loosing there job was hard for them so they had to work so they can supply for there family

For African American women it was hard for them also

When the depression hit them to where white women would fight for jobs that the black women had.

Mexican went through similar problem
Some had threats of being sent back to Mexico because of the competition for jobs

Women had trouble being treated as equal citizens during this time also
They would get paid less for jobs they had and it was the same job b the men had.
Some women were forced into sewing rooms that goes for Mexican and African American women as well
