Pilgrimage to Mecca

  • Muslims are obliged to make the pilgrimage to Mecca once in their life.
  • After a Muslim makes a trip to Mecca, he/she is known as a hajj/hajja
  • Hajj should be an expression of devotion to God, not to gain social standing.

CHARITY

  • Charity is required of every financially stable Muslim.
  • Islam encourages the sharing of wealth with others.
  • The concept of wealth is considered as a gift from God in Islam

FAITH (IN ALLAH AND MUHAMMAD)

  • Declaration of faith and trust that there is only one God (Allah)
  • Belief that Muhammad is God's messenger.
  • Reciting Kalima is obligatory in daily prayer.
  • The Kalima reads...

"I BEAR WITNESS THAT THERE IS NONE WORTHY OF WORSHIP EXCEPT GOD

And Muhammad is His servant and Messenger."
