CELL ORGANELLE PROJECT

EDWARD GALLEGO, GIBSON GOGLIA

CELL MEMBRANE

  • Protects the cell from external environment
The cell membrane is related to the city borders because it controls what comes in and out of the city.

CYTOPLASM

  • Fills the space between the nucleus and the cell membrane
Smog is related to cytoplasm because it fills the space all around the cityscape.

NUCLEUS

  • Holds genetic information
City hall is related to the nucleus because it contains all the city's information and plans.

NUCLEOLUS

  • The bundle of DNA and RNA in the nucleus.
The mayor is related to the nucleus because he decides how the city ultimately functions.

CYTOSKELETON

  • Network of proteins that change for the cell's needs.
The laws of the city are related to the cytoskeleton because they constantly change depending on the city counsel and mayor's preferences.

SMOOTH ER

  • Removes toxins/poisons that enter the cell
  • Where metabolism takes place.
The police is related to smooth ER because the police take care of any unwanted citizens that are causing harm to the environment around them.

ROUGH ER

  • Makes proteins and transports them throughout the cell.
A post office is related to rough ER because it delivers packages throughout city (like proteins).

RIBOSOME

  • Makes proteins
A factory is related to the ribosome because it makes the products that are delivered in the city.

GOLGI APPARATUS

  • Packaged, process, sort, and deliver proteins throughout cell.
A packaging company like Amazon is related to Golgi apparatus because they package, process, sort, and deliver items throughout city.

VESICLE

  • Break down materials and move them place to place in cell
A trash service is related to the vehicle because it delivers unneeded waste to a dump where it will get destroyed.

MITOCHONDRIA

  • Produces energy in cell.
The department of water and power is related to mitochondria because it provides energy like electricity to the city.

VACUOLE

  • Storage for the cell
A storage company is related to the vacuole because it stores items that the citizens might need later.

LYSOSOME

  • Kills bacteria and unneeded parts of cell.
A military base is related to lysosome because it protects the citizens from things that could be dangerous to the city.

CELL WALL

  • A layer that keeps everything in cell
  • Protects cell from physical damage.
The city gates are related to the cell wall because it helps protect the people inside the city.

CHLOROPLAST

  • Contains chlorophyll and carries out photosynthesis
A farm is related to chloroplast because it produces food for the city's markets.

CENTRIOLES AND CENTROSOMES

  • Protein structures which help chromosomes move during cell division.
Roads and freeways are related to centrioles and centrosomes because they are structures that help people move during rush hour.
