  • Europes location and resources helped the people living there.
  • Europe extends from modern day Portugal to China.
  • Sea and Ocenas had good recources as well.
  • Europe used it to trade and to also youse transportation.

  • Was a French King.
  • Defeated rebel nobles.
  • Was crowned Holy Roman Emperor.
  • Supported education and built schools.
  • Had a very strong government.

VIKINGS

  • Raided and traded.
  • Acted as mercinaries.
  • Eventualy made settlements in Canada.
  • Settled in wide ranging colinies.

  • Nobles would gain land for military services.
  • Peasants had to live on there lords land.
  • A lord was a noble who owned land.
  • Peasants gave things to their nobles in exchange for protection.

KNIGHTS

  • A person with knighthood from a monarch.
  • They were almost the rank of nobles.

  • A serf worked on his nobles estate.
  • Would work two to three days.
  • They could not be traded with the land.

  • A monasterie was like a church
  • Monks would live inside the monastaries
  • Monastaries could have many monks to one.
  • A monk was like a preacher.

VASSALS

  • A serf on mutual obligation.
  • They acted like serfs and peasants.

THE MANOR SYSTEM

  • The way lords organized land for more goods
  • The lords lived in manor houses.
  • Serfs lived in houses made of mud bricks
  • Serfs would complete the work along the land.
  • Serfs would go to church.
