UNITARY GOVERNMENT

A system of government in which the government holds all the power

BENEFITS

  • Strong and organized system of government
  • Unifed system of laws
  • Flexible laws that are easy to amend

DRAWBACKS

  • Slow to meet needs on local level
  • Doesn't always meet needs of people

AUTOCRACY

System of government by one person with absolute power

BENEFITS

  • Decisions can be made and carried out quickly

DRAWBACKS

  • People have little to no say
  • Authority is often kept by force

CONFEDERATION

An organization of a number of parties united in an alliance or league

BENEFITS

  • Focused on the needs of citizens
  • Tyranny is almost impossible

DRAWBACKS

  • Often break apart because of power struggles

MARKET ECONOMY

People & businesses chose what to do with their money

BENEFITS

  • You fail or prosper by your own hand
  • Have personal choice where your money goes

DRAWBACKS

  • If producers guess wrong on demand they lose money

TRADITIONAL ECONOMY

Regional habits and customs determine rules for economic activity

BENEFITS AND DRAWBACKS

  • Benefit: people you know well are able to teach you
  • Drawback: people don't often have a say in what they do

COMMAND ECONOMY COMMUNISM

Government has strict control of almost entire society

BENEFITS AND DRAWBACKS

  • Benefits: people are more equal
  • Benefit: everyone has necessary things to survive
  • Drawback: next to no choice for businesses or consumers
  • Drawback: poor stay poor and rich get richer

COMMAND ECONOMY SOCIALISM

Government owns what is essential people have choice beyond that.

  • Benefit: People get what they need and get to chose what they want
  • Drawback: if poor may only have money for the things goverment requires
