  • Went to Cambridge University
  • Took holy orders in Angelican Church
  • Pursued quiet life of English country curate (clergy)

Malthus

  • Named as a professor in 1805
  • First time term 'political economy' used as a designation
  • Makes him the first professional economist

His ideas were influenced by the times

industrial revolution, napoleon, population boom

people like food and sex
