CAUSES OF CIVIL WAR

  • There were disputes between the North and South.
  • They argued over public lands and states' rights.
  • The South wanted slavery, but the North didn't.

CAUSE OF CIVIL WAR

  • The future of slavery.
  • The North had machines so they didn't need any slaves.
  • South wanted slavery because they needed help to pull cotton.
  • If the South hired people they wouldn't become rich 
  • North had machines so they didn't need any slaves.

  • South had to do more importing, because of cotton.
  • They would have to send it up or over for machines to process the cotton.
  • Southern states had to pay tariffs.
  • Southern states' had rights to not pay tariffs, because of states' rights.

  • To raise the capital required, Southerners would have to sell their slaves.

  • Fort Sumter went up in flames and Anderson to surrender.
  • Lee decided to take the war to the North.

  • Lee surrender at Antietam Court House.

why did the south want slAVES, BUT THE NORTH DIDN'T WANT SLAVES?

  • South had many cotton fields.
  • Needed many hands to pick cotton so they could sell cotton.
  • North had many boats and technology so they didn't need any.
