STRUCTURES WRITERS USE TO CONVEY A MESSAGE

Simile - compares two different objects using "like" or "as"
Ex. He runs like the wind.

Metaphor - compares two different objects without using "like" or "as"
Ex. The snow is a white blanket.

Personification - gives a thing, idea, or an animal human qualities
Ex. The flowers are dancing in the breeze.

Hyperbole - exaggeration of actions and ideas
