PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE URINARY SYSTEM

SIDNEY RIDER

WHAT ORGANS ALLOW THE URINARY SYSTEM TO FUNCTION ?

  • Two kidneys that remove liquid waste from blood in the form of urine.
  • Two ureters that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
  • A bladder that stores and empties urine.
  • Two sphincter muscles that keep urine from leaking.
  • Nervers in the bladder that alert a person when it is time to urinate.

WHAT ORGANS ALLOW THE URINARY SYSTEM TO FUNCTION? (CONTINUED)

  • A urethra that allows urine to pass outside the body.

What is the function of the urinary system?
The urinary system removes liquid waste from the blood in the form of urine; keeps a stable balance of salts and other substances in the blood; and produce erythropoietin, a hormone that aids the formation of red blood cells.

HOW DO THE OTHER BODY SYSTEMS WORK WITH THE URINARY SYSTEM?

  • The skeletal system protects the kidneys.
  • The muscular system provides smooth muscle in the bladder.
  • The digestive system provides nutrients so the kidneys can clean your blood.
  • The respiratory system provides oxygen so the kidneys can clean your blood and it removes carbon dioxide and waterthat the urinary system produces as waste product.
  • The circulatory system moves oxygen moves oxygen and glucose around the body so cells can do work and moves waste so it can be disposed by the body.

HOW DO THE OTHER BODY SYSTEMS WORK WITH THE URINARY SYSTEM? (CONTINUED)

  • The nervous system controls involuntary muscle movement- cleaning blood and urination.

The urinary system cleanses your blood system through many organs, including the kidneys. The urinary system would not be able to work without the help/ protection of the other body systems.
