Questions to ask of texts (p. 183)

  • How does the argument unfold
  • How does the author present two or more schools of thought arguing with eac
  • How does the author use model phrases or template for sentences?
  • How does the author evaluate what s/he is reading?

Where & How to find "Dinner guests"

  • Look in the references of papers you enjoyed reading
  • Talk to friends/colleagues/mentors about their inspirations
  • Open search on Google Scholar or at the SFU website
  • Professional association awards, publications, etc.
  • Others? Where have you found yours so far?

Once you've identified your guests...

  • Read their work
  • Summarize it in your own words (p. 184)
  • Categorize and group the articles
  • Write about each category, beginning one at a time
  • Write an introduction & conclusion
