COMPOUND
A fracture in which broken bone fragments lacerate soft tissue
Protrudes through an open wound of the skin
Immediate surgery is needed

SIMPLE
A broken bone where the bone does not pierce the skin

SPIRAL
Caused by a twisting motion or force
Also called a torsion fracture

COMPRESSION
A fracture in which the bone collapses
Common in elderly people
Treatments can include pain medication and immobilization

A fracture that goes at a angle to the axis

A fracture made of relatively small fragments

It is wedged into another broken end
