SPEED

  • Distance/Time

Average Speed
The overall rate of speed at which an object moves; calculated by dividing the total distance an object travels by the total time.

Velocity
Speed in a given direction

Acceleration
The rate in which velocity changes

Slope
A surface of which one end or side is at a higher level than another

Force
A push or pull

Newton
A unit of measure that equals the force required to accelerate 1 kilogram of mass at 1 meter per second

Net Force
The combination of all forces acting on an object

Unbalanced force
An equal force acting on an object causing it to move in one direction

Balanced force
Equal forces on an objected in opposite directions

Energy
Capacity to cause change

Potential Energy
Stored energy

Kinetic Energy
Energy in motion
