Question

Does the amount of sunlight affect the amount of water that will evaporate?

MATERIALS

  • Books
  • I pad
  • Beakers
  • Paper
  • Tape

MATERIALS CONT.

  • Water
  • Marker
  • Pencil

VARIABLES

  • Controlled: The starting amount of water in each beaker.
  • Independent: the amount of sunlight.

Hypothesis

We predict that more water will evaporate in the sun than in the shade.

RESEARCH

  • The sun heats water in bodys this turnswater into a gas that would rise into the air.
  • Once it rises to a certain height water in the form of a gas cools and goes into clouds.
  • When clouds become to big water begins to fall from them the water falls to land
  • Evaporation, condinsation,and precipatation are all parts of the water cycle
  • The water cycle describes how water moves about, on, and through the earth

PROCEDURES

  • Choose our experiment
  • Read our experiment
  • Get materials
  • Do research
  • Collect data while observing experiment

PROCEDURES CONT.

  • Label each beaker
  • Put 100ml of water in each beaker
  • Place one beaker in sun and one in shade
  • Observe amount of water after 1 day
  • Observe amount of water after second day

PROCEDURES CONT.

  • Collect more data
  • Put the other data you collected on the power point
  • Go over the data you collected
  • Make sure you have almost all the stuff you need
  • Finsh your project

Conclusion

The water in the sun cup evaporated more than the water in the shade cup. The sun is hitting the sun cup more than
the shade cup. The sun is important because it gives heat to the water cycle. Heat is needed to change the state of matter.
