HOW YEMAYA WAS CREATED

• The ultimate creator, Olodumare, first created Obatala and gave him a wife. They had two
• children and named them Yemaya and Aganyu. Yemaya and Aganyu had a son together and named him Orugan.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Yemaya is the goddess of fertility, love, family, the home, and the ocean.
• Without Yemaya, life wouldn't be possible because she is the universal mother.

CULTURE

• Yemaya is an Orisha of the Yoruba religion. Yemaya is found more frequently is Santeria, a religion derived from Yoruba.
• The fact that she is one of the strongest Orisha and also the universal mother shows that the people who believed in Yoruba respected women.
