JIM WEBB

BACKGROUND

  • Webb was born February 9th 1946 in Saint Joseph MO.
  • He grew up with his mom and dad James Webb Sr. And Vera Hodges
  • He had 2 sisters Patricia Myers & Tama McKee and one brother Gary Webb
  • He's married to Hong Le Webb
  • He has 5 children Jimmy Webb,Amy Webb Hogan, Georgia Webb, Sarah Webb, & Julia Webb

BACKGROUND CONT.

  • Jim Webb graduated the naval academy in 1968
  • He served as a company commander during the Vietnam war earned multiple medals including the navy cross, purple heart ect.
  • After the war he pursued his law degree and graduated from Georgetown Law in '75

INTRO TO POLITICS

  • His first real political job was a counsel on the house committee of veteran affairs from '77 to '81
  • In 1984 he was appointed Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, and in 1987 became Secretary of the Navy
  • He announced his running for president in late july

ON THE ISSUES

  • Webb supports abortion and the use of the unborn fetuses stem cells for further research
  • Webb plans to fix the economy with a more or so inside out approach by increasing the number of jobs and attempting to decrease the number of imports we take in.
  • He supports gay marriage & believes affirmative action should apply only to african Americans he also believes the governments power should stop at a person ps front door
  • He supports gun control and believes self defense is right also thinks veterans should be able to register guns they acquired abroad

CHANCES OF WINNING

  • Before the second debate it was thought that Jim may make a good anti Clinton but after the recent debates and a more recent surge by Bernie Sanders has quickly made most people skeptical of seeing him make it very far despite this news Webb still believes he can make a good dark horse

DROPPING OUT...?

  • In late October Webb announced he was dropping out of all candidacy of the democratic race but says he will continue to run as an independent saying "i know the chances are slim but i think ill bring alot of support over from my democratic campaign" Webb believes in the drastic state of the economy also gives him a huge boost
