Steve Swinburne was born in London, England. When he was 8, he left England with his family and sailed on the Queen Elizabeth to New York City.

Steve holds a bachelor of arts degree in biology and English from Castleton State College, Vt. He has worked as ranger in a number of national parks.

He loves to travel and observe nature and wildlife.

He lives in South Londonderry, Vermont, with his wife Heather and daughters Hayley and Devon.

Mr. Swinburne has written many books for children. He writes about nature and animals.

He is very interested in turtles and their migratory patterns. He hopes to save turtles.

He has even written a book with a sea turtle scientist. The leatherback turtle is critically endangered.

Mr. Swinburne will bring his ukulele and sing,"One in a Thousand," about the turtle migration.

We will follow a female leatherneck turtle as she makes her way to the beach, builds a nest, lays her eggs, and returns to the ocean.

Texas has a sea turtle hospital and rescue group in South Padre Island.

Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured sea turtles back into nature. Be careful not to fish where sea turtles are nesting.
