HEART MOUNTAIN THE HARSHEST LIVING ENVIRONMENTS OF ALL THE CAMPS.

THE CHILDREN STARTED SCHOOL ON OCT. 5 1942. AND THE HIGH SCHOOL HAD A FOOTBALL TEAM.

TOOK 60 DAYS TO BULID 468 BARRACKS STYLE BUILDING.

WYOMING

THE POPULATION PEAKED TO 10,761 IN JAN 1943.

THE SELF CONTAINED CAMP HAD ITS OWN WATER SYSTEM.

THE CAMP WAS SELF GOVERNED BY BLOCK CHAIRMAN AND BLOCK MANAGERS.

HEART MOUNTAIN HAD ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL AGRICULTURE PROGRAMS OF THE CAMPS.

THE INTERNEES HAD JOBS IN THE CAMP BUT COULD NOT GET PAID.

SOME INTERNEES WERE ALLOWED TO FINALLY WORK OUTSIDE THE CAMP.
