This story has been translated to many languages. It is a true story of Sadako Sasaki, who lived in Hiroshima, Japan, at the time of the atomic bombing, August 6, 1945.

SADAKO DIED. SHE WAS 12 YEARS OLD.

THE HEROSHIMA PEACE MEMORIAL WAS COMPLETED IN 1958.

  • It was built in honor of Sadako and other atomic bomb victims
  • All money was raised by Sadako's friends and classmates to honor her.

THIS IS OUR CRY. THIS IS OUR PRAYER. PEACE IN THE WORLD

SADAKO'S LEGACY

  • Although Sadako died at a very young age, her legacy continues.
  • To this day, the paper crane is probably the most recognized origami model.
  • The paper crane is often given as a wish for peace.
