  • June 13, 1862
  • Signed by 7 American settlers, including Stephen F. Austin
  • Occurred after the Anahuac Disturbances

  • The secession from Mexico and the formation of the Republic of Texas

arrest of stephen f. austin

  • 1834
  • Austin was accused of starting an insurrection in Texas
  • No charges were made against him.
  • No court accepted jurisdiction of his case.
  • He remained imprisoned for a year.
