failures in Indochina and inability to resolve the Algerian question.gaulle said he was at the disposal of France
Politicians feared he would violate civil liberties he replied
"Have I ever done that? On hthe contrary, I have re-established them when they had disappeared.
Who honestly believes that, at age 67, I would start a career as a dictator?"

He refused the huge pensions of president and general
He accepted a colonel pension though
While in office he kept jis personal and official spending separate
And paid for his own hair cuts and stuff like that
