SOLOMON'S LIFE

• Solomon reigned over Israel for 40 years.
• He was the son of David and Bathsheba.
• He became king shortly after his father died.
• He had a brother named Adonijah who tried to take the throne from him.
• During his reign he did a number of good thing and bad things.

SOLOMON AND THE TEMPLE

• When David was the ruler he set out plans for the temple.
• But God told him to wait and let Solomon build the temple.
• When the time came Solomon carried out the plans that his father set.
• It was said to be the grandest temple in all the land.

SOLOMON'S REIGN

• In the beginning Solomon did everything that the Lord commanded.
• When he was granted a gift from God he asked for wisdom.
• In addition to wisom God also gave Solomon wealth and glory.

SOLOMON'S WISDOM

• One day two women came to Solomon claiming that the baby was tneor own.
• To find out whose the child really was he said to cut it in half.
• The real mother protested but the other agreed.
• This showed that the first mother was the real mother.

SOLOMON'S DOWNFALL

• After a while Solomon fell away from God and married a lot of women.
• For every single one he made a temple for their God.
• He fell away and started worshipping them.
• So God punished him and told him that he was going to divide the kingdom.

SOLOMON'S DEATH

• Shortly after the kimgdom was divided Solomon died.
• After he died his son Rehoboam took over the throne.
• But Rhoboam only got to rule over a small part of what was once a big kingdom.
