  • 1945- Soviet troops free North Korea from the Japanese while the US controls the South
  • 1946-North Koreas communist party was inaugurated, Kim ll-sung takes leadership
  • Became a communist state because of the influence of the soviet union
  • 1950-1953- korean war

  • All TV and radio broadcasts are tuned to government propaganda all the time.
  • Life centers around the regime (or leaders)
  • Food, goods, and services are scarce
  • Required to be loyal and serve the government
