  • Josephine Baker was a jazz dancer/singer
  • Her full name was Freda Josephine Baker Mcdonald
  • She had 12 children
  • During World War II, she worked as a Red Cross nurse.

  • Josephine was a civil rights activist
  • First African American dancer
  • In 1963 she spoke at the March on Washington at the side of Martin Luther King Jr.
  • She refused to entertainat any clubs or theaters that were not integrated.
