LOOKS

The first dinosaurs in space were the Maiasaura and Coelyphysis.

A Maiasaura bone fragment and a piece of an eggshell flew with Loren Acton on an 8 day mission in 1985.

A Coelyphysis skull was brought into space by the space shuttle Endeaver on January 22, 1998

Newly discovered dinosaurs got their name by the discoverer. Sometimes it is named to describe something about them, their location, or to honor someone. Tyranosaurus Rex means: king of the tyrant lizards.
