PRESENTATION OUTLINE

JASON

BIRTH

JASON WAS THE SON OF THE KING OF IOCLUS. HOWEVER, HIS MOTHER HAD TO PRETEND HE WAS DEAD TO ESCAPE THE WRATH OF PELIUS.

UPBRINGING

HE WAS SENT TO CHIRON, THE CENTAUR, TO LEARN.

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS...

JASON TRAVELS TO PELIAS TO CLAIM HIS RIGHTS TO THE THROWN.

THE GOLDEN FLEECE

PELIAS REQUESTS THAT HE FINDS THE GOLDEN FLEECE IN COLCHIS AND BRING IT TO HIM. JASON SETS SAIL WITH HIS ARGONAUTS .

ENCOUNTER AT LEMNOS

THEY SAIL INTO THE ISLAND. SURPRISINGLY, THE FIERCE WOMEN HELP THE ARGONAUTS.

THE LOSS OF HERCULES

HERCULES IS LEFT BEHIND IN JASON'S EXCURSION.

RESCUE OF PHINEAS

THE ARGONAUTS SAVE PHINEAS FROM THE HARPIES. HE GIVES THEM ADVICE IN RETURN.

PASSING THE CLASHING ROCKS

THE MEN FLY A DOVE THROUGH THE ROCKS AND IT RETURNS SAFELY, SO THEY PROCEED.

THE AMAZONS

The Argonauts choose peace over a bloody encounter with the Amazons, and quickly reach Colchis.

KING AEETES'S PROPOSAL

After they reach Colchis, Aeetes says that Jason must plow the field with a fearsome bull and kill an army of men to get the fleece.

MEDEA'S GIFT

Out of love, Medea gives Jason an ointment that will make him and his tools invincible for a day and gives him advice about how to kill the army.

JASON'S VICTORY

Using Medea's gifts and advice, he plowed the field and killed the army.

THE FLEECE IS TAKEN

The king refuses to give up the fleece.With the help of Hera and Medea, Jason steals the fleece. Medea sails away with Jason.

THE PURSUIT

The king sends Medea's brother, Apsyrtus, in pursuit of the Argonauts along with an army. Medea kills Apsyrtus.

THE ADVENTURE AT CRETE

Medea prays and helps kill the bronze man on Crete, the island that they Argonauts had wanted to rest on for the night.

RETURN TO IOCLUS

The Argonauts return to Ioclus to find that Pelias had killed Jason's father, so Medea tricks Pelias's daughters into killing him.

PROBLEMS BETWEEN MEDEA AND JASON

Jason unfaithfully marries a princess. Out of anger, Medea tricks the princess' father into having the her exiled. Medea is then exiled herself.

MEDEA'S END

Medea kills Jason's bride and then their own two sons.

JASON'S DEATH

While sleeping in the Argo, it collapses on top of him.
